Gut health
Restore your gut
Bloating, reflux, constipation and loose stools are signs that digestion isn't working as it should. The gut also shapes immunity, mood and hormones, so it is often where we start.
Common root causes
- Diet and food triggers
- Stress and nervous system strain
- Infections or bacterial overgrowth
- Hormonal imbalances
- Inflammation and immune reactions
- Environmental exposures
Testing we may use
- Comprehensive stool analysis
- SIBO breath testing
- Food sensitivity testing
- Organic acids testing
- Bloodwork for inflammation and nutrients
Treatment may include a targeted elimination diet with structured reintroduction, digestive enzymes, probiotics, herbal antimicrobials, and support for the gut-brain connection.
Metabolic health
Steady blood sugar, steady energy
Fatigue, cravings and weight that won't move often come back to blood sugar and insulin. Hormones and gut health affect both, so we test and treat them together.
Common root causes
- Blood sugar and insulin swings
- Thyroid and cortisol imbalance
- Estrogen and testosterone changes
- Gut dysfunction and inflammation
- Poor nutrient absorption
Testing we may use
- Glucose and insulin markers
- Lipids and inflammation markers
- Thyroid and hormone testing
- Advanced stool testing
Treatment focuses on nutrition, movement and targeted supplements to improve insulin sensitivity. When medication helps, see GLP-1 Weight Loss.
Energy
Get your energy back
Fatigue that sleep doesn't fix, daily brain fog and afternoon crashes have causes that standard bloodwork often misses. We look at how your cells make energy and what is getting in the way.
Common root causes
- Mitochondrial dysfunction
- Low iron, B vitamins, magnesium or CoQ10
- Thyroid, adrenal and sex hormones
- Unstable blood sugar
- Chronic inflammation or infection
- Poor sleep and ongoing stress
Testing we may use
- Nutrient status
- Thyroid, adrenal and sex hormones
- Metabolic markers
- Organic acids testing
Treatment may include nutrition that supports your mitochondria, nervous system support, sleep repair, gentle movement that builds energy, and supplements where testing shows a deficiency.

Questions
Functional medicine FAQ
Questions about insurance, locations and the patient app are answered in the general FAQ.
How is functional medicine different from conventional medicine?
Conventional care usually treats each symptom directly. Functional medicine looks for what is driving the symptoms, such as gut dysfunction, hormone imbalance, nutrient deficiencies or inflammation, and treats those causes so improvements last.
What happens at my first visit?
After you book, you'll receive intake questionnaires by email. At the 60–75 minute visit we go through your history, symptoms, recent labs, medications and supplements. I order the testing you need and give you first steps. Most recommendations come once your results are in.
How many visits will I need?
It depends on how complex your symptoms are. Most patients have about three follow-ups in the six months after their first visit, and many notice improvement within the first eight weeks.
What lifestyle changes will you recommend?
Your plan is tailored to you. Some patients improve with a few small changes; others need bigger shifts. Most plans include nutrition, stress management, movement and sleep.
Why do you focus on gut health?
The gut affects far more than digestion. It produces neurotransmitters such as serotonin, houses most of the immune system and influences mood, hormones and inflammation. Rebalancing it often improves symptoms elsewhere in the body.
Do you prescribe medication?
Yes, when it's needed. I start with nutrition, lifestyle and targeted supplements, and use medication alongside them when it is the right tool. I can also coordinate with your other providers.
Can I keep my regular doctor?
Yes. Many patients keep their primary care provider and add functional medicine. If you'd like me to handle both, see Integrative Primary Care.
