No markups on lab testing 
No additional charge for portal messaging between sessions for clarification on any part of your health care plan previously discussed in a session.

Are labs included?

​No, labs are additional. Some basic labs can be run through your insurance, but most labs used by functional medicine providers are considered specialty and are not covered by insurance. Approximate pricing:
Gut health labs: $450-$650
Immune health labs: $150-$500
Toxin/detoxification labs: $370-$800
Hormone health labs: $350-$550
Energy regulation labs: $380-$500
Cardiovascular health labs: $50-$250

How many visits will I need?

Every case is individual. The number of needed visits depend on the complexity and severity of your symptoms and conditions. In general after the intake visit, you can count on needing about 3 follow up visits in six months, however you should expect to see improvements in the first 8 weeks. If you need continued care after six months, memberships can be offered.

The lifestyle adjustments you'll be encouraged to adopt will be tailored to your specific health concerns and needs. The details will be outlined in your Holistic Health Guide. While some patients may see improvements with just a few small changes, others may need to make more significant shifts in their daily routines. However, there are a few key changes that most patients are expected to implement, including:

Diet and nutrition
Stress management
Movement and exercise
Sleep hygiene

Known as the gut microbiome, our digestive system contains both beneficial and harmful bacteria. We now understand that the gut plays a crucial role in producing neurotransmitters like serotonin and is responsible for 90% of our immune system function. These are just a few examples of how the gut impacts every system in our body. It’s clear that imbalances in gut health can have a profound effect on our overall well-being if not addressed. Functional and integrative medicine aims to improve gut function.

Hormonal imbalances can occur for various reasons, disrupting both physical and emotional health. Additionally, as we age, hormone levels naturally decline, leading to issues like sexual dysfunction, weight gain, hot flashes, and mood swings. 
By restoring hormonal balance, we address the root cause of your symptoms, reduce the risk of serious health conditions, and help you feel more youthful, energized, and vibrant.

Can you be my primary care provider?

​A comprehensive approach to your health and wellness involves a team of healthcare providers, including your primary care provider, alongside working with Xenia. As a functional medicine provider, I cannot serve as your primary care provider, as certain services, such as physical exams and the management of acute or urgent conditions, cannot be handled virtually. While functional medicine adds valuable expertise, it is not a substitute for conventional medicine when it comes to acute, urgent, or serious medical issues. For emergencies, please utilize your local urgent care or emergency room.

Do you take commercial insurance or Medicare?

I do not accept insurance as insurance does not cover functional medicine services. However, I do accept HSA and can provide you with a detailed invoice with diagnosis codes.

Do you offer in person or tele-health services?

Currently all our appointments are conducted through tele-medicine using audio and video through the "Practice Better" app. All our functional medicine services are offered in the greater Austin area and the entire state of Texas.

Are you located in Austin?

Accepted Answer

Yes, I am based in Austin, Texas. However, at this time my functional medicine services are virtual only. This provides flexibility to my patients. I am able to provide virtual functional medicine services to any patient who is based in the State of Texas.

Yes! I follow HIPAA guidelines on telemedicine that include:
Only authorized users should have access to Electronic Protected Health Information (ePHI).
A system of secure communication should be implemented to protect the integrity of ePHI.
A system of monitoring communications containing ePHI should be implemented to prevent accidental or malicious breaches.
That means I will only ever communicate with you through secure channels and our password-protected portal. We will never communicate via any platform that is not fully secured to protect your private information.
